STANDARD SURGERY

Standard Surgery is the most common surgical technique used by general practitioners, dermatologists and plastic surgeons to excise skin lesions. The area of concern is marked with a rim of normal tissue and excised under local anaesthesia. The excised tissue is then sent to the laboratory for testing. The hole that remains after the lesion has been removed is closed in layers with deep dissolving sutures and superficial skin sutures that are removed 1-2 weeks later. The pathology results usually take about a week to come back.
